Implants: Permanent, Secure Tooth Replacements
When permanent teeth are lost, regardless of the reason or number of
teeth, dental implants can offer a “new lease on life.” They
are superior to other choices because they are solid, secure, and esthetic.
After nearly 35 years of use, they have a 90-95% proven success rate
in appropriately chosen cases.
An implant is special surgical grade titanium post, manufactured to
highly precise specifications, under strict sterile conditions, that
is inserted surgically into the jawbone below the gum surface. With proper
use of the newest anesthetics and medications you need not be concerned
about pain. As the bone bonds to the post, it forms a secure foundation
onto which your new teeth are then attached and shaped to match your
mouth. The number of teeth being replaced will determine the best kind
of restoration for you. Implants can help replace a single tooth, or
a full set of teeth. If you have been suffering with partial or full
dentures, or are missing teeth, or feel you need teeth extracted, do
not hesitate to call to be evaluated for implants.
Dental Implants-An Invention that Makes People Smile
The invention of the titanium dental implant opens up endless and amazing possibilities. Once the art of safely anchoring an implant to the bone was mastered, a whole new world came to light.
A wide range of dental problems that were previously beyond treatment can, today, be remedied within hours. We can restore function, enhance esthetics, and give back a normal everyday life for a vast majority of our patients.
It is an established fact that the muscles used to smile release substances into your body that make you feel better. Many people with dental problems avoid smiling.
Holding back your smile holds back your emotions causing you to appear less social, and perhaps a bit introverted. It is easy to see how this can develop into a vicious cycle- one that is not easy to break.
The pattern is the same for problems when eating. Traditional false teeth are not always reliable, and there are foods and dishes you can only dream of eating. Dental health makes life easier in every way.

Ruth
Ruth always had a beautiful smile. She had taken good care of her teeth, and had spent much time, money, and effort restoring her teeth when needed. After many of her teeth got cavities under previously done dental work, it was impossible to save many of her teeth. The thought of having removable dentures, or false teeth was upsetting. Ruth knew many people her age who had dentures that were uncomfortable and difficult to chew with. Ruth had always prided herself on her pretty smile, and wanted to avoid anything removable if possible. After the failing teeth were removed, dental implants were placed, and restored with permanent porcelain crowns that looked and functioned like her regular teeth. According to Ruth the implants are terrific. “They have made such a difference-I can smile big-and I am living happily ever after!” she said.
Judith
Judith was very concerned about her dental care. She had worked hard to maintain her health and appearance. Many of her teeth had been restored over the years with large crowns and fillings. Some of her teeth were lost due to new cavities under old crowns. Judith knew that some teeth were failing, and would need to be replaced. She could not face the thought of going without replacement teeth during the treatment to replace the teeth with dental implants. Judith was grateful to know that when the failing teeth were removed, that dental implants could be placed, and temporary crowns could be immediately fitted to replace the missing ones. Judith will now be able to confidently smile, talk, and chew any food she desires for the rest of her life.
Aesthetic Benefits
As we age, one of the side effects is that we have decreased amount of moisture in our mouths. Many of the medications that are prescribed cause the mouth to be dry. Saliva helps prevent dental decay. The teeth are especially susceptible to decay around the gum line of the teeth. Dental implants do not decay. They are stable and fuse directly to the bone. They are a wonderful solution for teeth that are failing due to dry mouth syndrome.
Many people have lost their teeth at an early age due to the type of dental care that was available at the time. Some of these people have functioned well with removable full or partial dentures for years. After many years of wearing dentures, the bone is often shrunken to a flat ridge, especially on the lower area. Without adequate bone to support a denture people have to resort to things like denture adhesives to try to retain the loose dentures. This makes it difficult to chew many foods, and often leads to an older appearance. The chin and nose get closer together, and the chin seems to protrude forward, causing wrinkles and premature aging.
The placement of two to four implants in the jaw can anchor a lower denture in place, and greatly impact the quality of life fore these people. Overnight they can start to chew foods that they never dreamed of, like apples, corn on the cob, and steak. Their nutrition improves, which can improve their health. Unwanted wrinkles and sunken in faces can be improved, because of a more normal appearance. Implant retained dentures are stable and do not move around when chewing. The amazing thing is that it is often much more affordable than people think.
Shirley
Shirley is an energetic, attractive lady, who lost her teeth at an early age. When she got dental decay the dentist just extracted the teeth rather than try to fill them. She had functioned well with the full upper and lower dentures for many years. Lately it was becoming increasingly more difficult to chew certain foods without having the dentures move around. She noticed more sore spots under the lower denture after eating. She had about given up on eating foods like steak, corn on the cob, and carrots. It was just too much trouble!
Shirley had four implants placed in the lower jaw. After a healing period, these were attached to a lower denture with clips that locked them in place. The lower denture now is stable and Shirley can eat all of the things that were so hard to chew before. Shirley’s health, smile, and self-confidence have improved after the treatment.

The smile is the window through which people look to judge us. Appearance, health, self-confidence, and nutrition are all improved due to the development of dental implants.
